Wallonia at the centre of drone development

WD-Academy has chosen to establish a link between Aquitaine and Wallonia, a member of the Aérocampus Aquitaine.

Our expertise in piloting drones is highly regarded, given that Belgian regulations are very strict as regards training.

We can incorporate these remote-pilots with drones which are adapted to the type of mission, or organise training for your staff, including abroad.

Surveillance, even in ATEX zones

  • inspection of pipes and/or installations, topographical missions during construction or during the operation of the network, monitoring of building sites.

Photogrammetry and topography, 3D scans, 3D models

4-8 x dual  (Xamen technologies)

Evolution of the 4-8X, the engines have been doubled for more power and security (overlapping motors on the 4 arms).

It is equipped with the same nacelle and a parachute.

  • This model is the basis of the ATEX version
  • Approved in France and Belgium

Ideal for inspecting works and thermography.

Thanks to our equipment, we can either simply produce photographs or surveys, or provide you with post-processing:

We are specialised in the processing of aerial photographs of terrain or complex structures, using 2D/3D photogrammetric processes. Our models enable us to generate a dense and very precise point cloud, with which we produce digital models of the terrain, surface or elevation, geo-referenced orthophotographs, or complex digital 3D models. We can also handle the integration and processing of these elements in GIS or CAD systems (measurements, contour lines, surface calculations, volume calculations, profiles, cross-sections, flood simulations, etc.) in very high precision if necessary.

Thanks to the drones, not only is inspecting works faster, but also more secure. We are able to photograph and film, in ultra-high resolution, buildings and structures with diverse and complex architecture. This allows you to zoom into the image to analyse and spot potential defects in the structure, and consequently store these images in your archives.

Example of an inspection of a bridge which is difficult to access: the purpose of the observation was to see if there was any corrosion, and this was not the case.

The same inspection could be carried out on a building to examine a "flaking" of the paint, traces of rust, etc.

BE 4000:

Small inspection drone whose advantages include a compact design (moveable arms), low weight (less than 2Kg), manoeuvrability and autonomy (up to 30 min).
The frontal nacelle which tilts 180° makes it possible to perform low-angle inspections (underneath bridges and structures, ceilings, etc.)

It is possible to observe sections of the bridge image by image.

This can be adapted for all industrial sites.

We can even support you in missions in ATEX zones "Seveso industries" or in the "petro-chemical" industry, we have the only ATEX-certified drone.

The drones which we use for these type of missions are the only drones in the world to have obtained ATEX accreditation. This allows us to evolve in SEVESO zones and explosive atmospheres in complete safety. Specific training is mandatory for remote-pilots and observers.

4-8 x dual ATEX (Xamen technologies)

At the forefront of technology and innovation proposed by Xamen, the LE 4-8X Dual Atex complies with the nomenclature Atex Zone 2, mainly intended for the petroleum, gas and chemical industries. This model showcases the operational and technical expertise of the Xamen company, validated by numerous operations in sensitive areas by major players in the sector including Total, Engie and Maersk.

Currently, for the inspection of a gas flare, 2 elements are requested:

- The inspection of the shaft

- The inspection of the nozzle of the flare.

Control of pipelines

important obligations regarding security and surveillance of transport networks and fluid collection

objective:

Regular controls = much more effective maintenance follow-up

But a "cold" leak was also detected, carried out with the ATEX drone and the ATEX thermal camera.

Monitoring building sites

For example, if you have building sites abroad, the manager can have regular visual information in addition to technical information.

Reach for the sky to ensure the progression of the building site.

Intervene before, during and after the construction of your project.

Intervening before a project will enable you to assess the situation of the site and keep a reminder of your project. The drone is the ideal tool to intervene during the construction of your project, in order to produce high quality images, right at the heart of your building site. At the end of the project, we are able to penetrate right to the interior of your project, thanks to the use of the drone.

Photogrammetry

Equipment:

  • This model is the basis of the ATEX version
  • Approved in France and Belgium

Ideal for inspecting works and thermography

Use of a thermal camera

  1. In the context of buildings
  • Detect water infiltration in flat roofs
  • Renovation: for the preparation of insulation works
  • Inspection of feeder tubes and urban heating
  • Analysis of technical systems from above
  1. Control of photovoltaic units
  2. Wind turbines

Our remote pilots

  • class 1 also for certain certified people in France, such as remote-pilots
  • VCA Training
  • ATEX Training
  • Bilingual FR/EN
  • They accept foreign travel, some have experience in risk zones

Advantages

  • Security of the participants
  • Straightforward implementation
  • Speed of execution
  • Saved time and therefore money
  • But above all, safety on the building site

Our strengths

High-quality equipment approved in France and Belgium

Belgian presence

  • We can prepare the full assignment, as well as follow-up in a short operational timescale.
  • No travel or accommodation costs in Belgium
  • Back-up from French companies who can respond to specific needs
  • Administrative department linked to the operational DGTA 7 days a week

Presence in foreign countries

Middle-East:  Gino Yazbeck: FR/EN/Arabic, the office covers the entire Middle East from Lebanon

Jean-Pol Detiffe and OncoKDM

One of the "nuggets" of the Biopark in Gosselies. Situated within the Institute of Pathology and Genetics, the bio-technology company OncoDNA reached a new milestone in 2016, which should enable it to speed up development of its activities in the coming months. OncoDNA - founded in 2012 by Jean-Pol Detiffe (ex-industrial chemist) and specialising in the complete analysis (DNA and proteins) of tumours, achieved one of the largest amounts of capital raising in French-speaking Belgium in the past year, last September. The deal, led by François Blondel, made it possible to increase own capital from 1.1 to 8.8 million euros. In addition to the traditional shareholders (Bio.be, Sambrinvest, Jean Stéphenne, Jean-Pol Detiffe and François Blondel), OncoDNA convinced the Flemish holding company AvH to come on board. "It is both a strong signal and a very nice acknowledgement!", proclaimed Mr. Blondel during the announcement of the deal. OncoDNA already employs around 20 people and generated "several million euros" of revenue in 2016.
