The academic world honours and reinforces its ties with Osaka University in collective issues in the fields of education, research and the promotion of science and innovation for industry.
On the occasion of the princely mission to Japan, a significant number of academic delegates, led by the Rector of the University of Liège, Ms Anne-Sophie Nyssen and the CEO of WBI-AWEX, Ms Pascale Delcomminette, and composed of representatives of universities and colleges of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, visited the University of Osaka on its campus of Suita to exchange data on common issues concerning the internationalisation of educational and research programmes, the support of scientific excellence and its promotion at the service of society. The collaboration agreements between the universities of Liege and Osaka in the field of engineering and research in life sciences were both highlighted. The delegates visited various different infrastructures at the University of Osaka.
Pascale Delcomminette presented the strategies and guaranteed her support for the political initiatives implemented in Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to support training and scientific and technological innovation, particularly in the fields of life sciences and engineering.
After presenting the strategic orientations of Wallonia-Brussels in the fields of life sciences and engineering, Pascale Delcomminette reaffirmed the desire of WBI to attain greater collaboration and facilitate the exchange of talents and knowledge among French-speaking and Japanese academic organisations. She invited Japanese students and researchers to come and enhance their training in our region and encouraged the students of our universities and colleges to be internationally open and mobile.
Professor Pierre Duisinx from ULiège presented, on behalf of the academic representatives present, the regional initiatives and ecosystems such as the WELBIO program, which coordinates the industrial promotion of scientific excellence in the Walloon-Brussels Federation in the key strategic areas of biotechnologies and life sciences. He illustrated the fruitfulness of the collaboration agreements between ULiège and the University of Osaka in the field of engineering and the transfer of value between research and industry in order to encourage the academic organisations present to reach similar agreements in their field of expertise.
