On Thursday, the 1st of October 2015, the final of the second edition of the international contest "My thesis in 180 seconds" was held at the Sorbonne in Paris. The First Prize of the Jury went to Adrien Deliège, PhD student at the University of Liège.

Sixteen PhD students from eight different French-speaking countries took part in this competition, which consists of presenting their research topic in three minutes flat.

The competition jury awarded three prizes: AbdelKader Meni Mahzoum, from the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez received the Third Prize of the Jury, Alexander Artaud, a student in Fundamental Physics at the University of Grenoble Alpes came away with the Second Prize of the Jury and the Audience Award, and finally, Adrien Deliège, a doctoral student in mathematics at the University of Liège, was awarded the First Prize of the Jury with his thesis on "Climate time series analysis based on wavelets”. Quite an achievement!

The "My thesis in 180 seconds" contest allows PhD students to present their research topic, in French and in simple terms, to a non-specialist and diverse audience. Each student has only three minutes to present their research project clearly, concisely and convincingly. All with the help of one single slide.
