The Belgian Owl distillery near Bierset has already won the title of Best European Whiskey outside Scotland and could do the double. Every year, Etienne Bouillon, Master Distiller from a wine producing family, is forced to announce to fans that unfortunately his beverage is out of stock.

Produced entirely in Hesbaye from barley and water, Belgian Owl is the pride of its Master Distiller, Etienne Bouillon. Every year, his whisky goes out of stock despite producing 800 barrels of 200 litres. Its title of Best European Whiskey outside Scotland last year has not improved the chances of being able to purchase a precious bottle of this Walloon beverage.

However, this year, Etienne Bouillon plans to quadruple production. He insists on local production because the taste and therefore the success of Belgian Owl is mainly due to the barley grown on the chalky soils of Hesbaye and the flavours and scents of the region.

For the wealthiest and most patient, it is possible to order a barrel that they will receive in three to five years' time.
