Schréder lights up the Rio Olympics

Last month, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro came to an end. Did you know that a Walloon company was responsible for providing sustainable lighting solutions across the city for the event? Schréder supplied several lighting solutions thus creating safe and welcoming environments for Rio's visitors and residents while reducing the energy bill and environmental footprint.

It's not just medals and our athletes that shone in Rio. Several iconic venues in the Brazilian city benefited from the lighting solutions proposed by Schréder including the Maracanã Arena, the Olympic Park, Porto Maravilha, the Museu do Amanhã and Parque Madureira.

The City of Rio took advantage of its staging of the Olympics to invest in and regenerate certain districts such as the port area of Porto Maravilha and a space dedicated to culture and business in order to support tourism and the economy well beyond the prestigious competition. The venues were developed with the construction of offices but also the futuristic Museu do Amanhã (literally "Museum of tomorrow") and the creation of several open spaces.

These high energy-efficient lighting solutions were used to create safer and more welcoming areas so that people could enjoy them both during the day and at night.
