Three projects from Wallonia-Brussels have been nominated for the MIPIM Awards, the world’s leading property market. The results will be announced between 15 and 18 March in Cannes!
MIPIM, the world’s leading property market, brings together the most influential players from all international property sectors (office, residential, retail, healthcare, sport, logistics and industrial), offering unrivalled access to the greatest number of development projects and sources of capital worldwide.
Its 27th edition has been concentrated over four intensive days: the world’s premier property exhibition, an exclusive networking platform, a high-level conference programme and an Awards ceremony, the prestigious industry recognition.
Three projects from Wallonia-Brussels have been selected
- Best hotel and tourist complex: Lille youth hostel by JDS Architects
Over the last twenty years, Lille has grown into a European hub. It is a coveted destination for business and conventions, an ideal place for students but also a popular tourist destination. The project was driven by the idea of creating an urban centre, home to three distinct programmes on a triangular site. By placing a programme at each end of the triangle, each programme retains its intimacy without being isolated. Everything is laid out around a garden, which serves as a haven of peace and quiet in the city centre. Lille Euralille, this newly built housing site, was designed as an iconic, futuristic and sustainable building.
- Most Innovative environmental project: Treurenberg (ASSAR ARCHITECTS) (Brussels)
The Treurenberg office project is located in Brussels’ historic business district near Brussels Central Station. The 9800 m² project is the result of a design competition launched to rebuild the site. Sustainability was an important issue, with the goal of developing a project with zero net energy consumption. The building has been rated "Excellent" under the BREEAM standards. The sustainable and energy efficient features applied include triple-glazing and the installation of 1134 m² of photovoltaic cells.
- Best future project: Paradis Express (a joint venture between A2M - Jaspers-Eyers Architects - BAG) (Liège)
Paradis Express is a versatile complex equipped with a landscaped promenade, offering 162 residential units, 21,000 m² of office space and also additional retail outlets and service areas. Paradis Express sees itself as an urban link between the Meuse and the Liège-Guillemins station designed by Calatrava. The project was developed by Fedimmo and designed by Jaspers-Eyers Architectes, A2M and BAG. The openness of the site, offering extensive views, its accessibility and strong sense of continuity with the public space, means that it fits snugly into its environment and the urban fabric. Paradis Express complies with passive standards and has received the status of "Nearly Zero Energy". The project also meets BREEAM-recognised environmental criteria.
The results will be announced during the MIPIM Awards from March 15 to 18!
