743,254 visitors trod the tarmac of Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA) in April 2018. An 8% increase compared to 2017!
Very satisfactory figures for the management team and Jean-Jacques Cloquet, the Managing Director of BSCA, who was awarded the MOTY prize – Man Of The Year 2018 - by the Aviation Press Club of Belgium.
The airport continues to expand and plans to welcome more than 10 million passengers in 2026 thanks to its new 3,200-metre long runway that should be extended. A sizeable investment estimated at between €30 and €35 million, which could create some 1,500 direct jobs. BSCA is now waiting to obtain the different permits required for the project's implementation.
"The extension of the BSCA's runway is an open door for new opportunities. Indeed, it will allow the reception of new types of aircraft with a larger scope of action and will offer BSCA's users new and more distant horizons. It will also offer airlines the chance to ensure the profitability of their flights with the addition of light cargo", explained Jean-Jacques Cloquet.
