Discover the programme of actions and events organised by Wallonia-Brussels during the 26th annual UN Climate Change Conference - COP26, which will take place from 31 October to 12 November 2021 in Glasgow.

 

Sangterra Project

Documentary film and photo project with photographer Christophe Smets and La Boîte à images.

Theme: Environmental activism around the world and in particular the risks involved. For example, according to the NGO Global Witness, 227 environmental activists were killed worldwide in 2020.

Green hydrogen, a source of sustainable development

This conference aims to highlight Walloon and Moroccan ecosystems, as well as the strategy of the Walloon company John Cockerill in both countries. In collaboration with the Institut du Développement Durable de la Francophonie (IFDD).

Green hydrogen, the engine of the low-carbon industry

Green hydrogen is an energy carrier of the future. Wallonia is strategically placed to become the next centre of renewable hydrogen development, and the post-coronavirus recovery plan is paving the way for the development of a new hydrogen industry. This conference will highlight the Walloon hydrogen ecosystem, with the presentation of various projects in the field.

 

Wallonia - Construction & Sustainable Energy

The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency, in collaboration with the Walloon clusters TWEED, CAP Construction and Eco-Construction, is delighted to invite you virtually to a conference on the fringes of COP26 in Glasgow. It will address the themes of sustainable construction and the presentation of innovative Walloon technologies.

 

Wallonia Citizen Panel

The session will start with a speech by the Walloon Minister for Climate, Mr Philippe Henry, who will present an overview of the participatory process set up in the Walloon Region around the objective of reducing CO2 by 55%. Ms Nadège Carlier will then speak about young people's expectations regarding their participation in the processes carried out by the various levels of power, as well as the conditions for this participation. Finally, Mr Charles Fournier will present the regional COP process implemented in the Loire Valley: its objectives, the stakeholders involved, and how the process will be maintained over time. Videos presenting the requests of young people under 18, made to feed into the reflections of the citizen panel, will be broadcast between the various speeches.

Meeting with Vinciane Despret (ULiège)

This meeting is being organised as part of the #LisezVousLeBelge campaign, to mark the release in November of the English translation of her book Habiter en oiseau (Living as a Bird, Polity, 2021) on our cohabitation with living things.

Partner: Institut français, as part of an environmentally themed cycle entitled The Earth Here And Now.
