Telix Pharmaceuticals Highlights Wallonia’s Appeal

Established in Wallonia since 2018, the Australian company Telix Pharmaceuticals appreciates the "Radiotherapy Valley" that Wallonia represents. With the opening of a radiopharmacy site in Seneffe in 2020, Telix Pharmaceuticals showcases Wallonia’s appeal. It is for this reason that the company was awarded at the Wallonia International Business Awards.

Walloon companies export and promote Wallonia abroad. But Wallonia is also a welcoming home for international companies. At the Wallonia International Business Awards, foreign investors are also recognized with the Wallonia Foreign Investment Award. This year, the Australian company Telix Pharmaceuticals won the award, which honors a foreign company that has established itself in Wallonia and highlights the attractiveness of our region.

Since 1991, the Grand Prix Wallonie à l'Exportation, renamed the Wallonia International Business Awards in 2022, has been held every two years to reward the efforts and successes of Walloon companies expanding into foreign markets, contributing to the reputation of these companies as well as the image of Walloon products, services, and expertise internationally.

“For Telix, it is an honor to receive this award. The company is proud of it,” commented Caroline Defraiteur, COO of Telix Pharmaceuticals.

Telix is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in targeted molecular therapies for cancer treatment. Radiopharmaceuticals use targeting agents to deliver precise radiation to cancer cells, regardless of the tumor’s location in the body. This approach, known as "theranostics," improves treatment decisions and provides personalized therapies for patients.

In Wallonia since 2018

The Australian company established itself in Wallonia in two phases. “First, Telix entered Wallonia through the acquisition of the company ANMI, based in Liège. That was in 2018. The second phase came in 2020 with the opening of the Seneffe site and the establishment of the radiopharmacy. For this step, Telix was able to count on significant support from AWEX,” continued Caroline Defraiteur.

Telix chose Wallonia because all the suppliers in the radiopharmacy sector are located within a small area in Belgium. “We often refer to Belgium as the Radiopharmacy Valley of Europe,” explains our interlocutor.

“In the short term, Telix’s goal is to continue developing the Seneffe site,” concludes Caroline Defraiteur.
