The results of the world' s most famous university rankings, QS World University Rankings and U-Multirank, have just been released. Universities in French-speaking Belgium are in a good position in these rankings.
According to the QS World University Rankings 2021, UCLouvain continues to be the best university in French-speaking Belgium, followed by ULB, ULiège and UMons.
The criteria taken into account are : academic reputation, reputation in the labour market, teacher-student ratio, proportion of international professors and students, number of scientific citations. UCLouvain states that it is thanks to the excellence of its research that it was able to achieve this exceptional result: "This is where the university achieves its best progress and far exceeds the world average (98th out of the 1,620 institutions analysed). A recognition of the work and above all the discoveries of UCLouvain's researchers".
Concerning UMons, it occupies an excellent position in the ranking published by U-Multirank, a European project which, in 2020, compared the performance of 1800 institutions in 92 countries. In particular, research, regional commitment and international dimension were the criteria which scored the best results. On this subject, Philippe Dubois, Rector of UMons, underlines: "This 51st place in the international ranking unequivocally demonstrates that UMons' territorial anchorage in its province can perfectly combine with the recognition of its international influence".
