On 15 January, CMI Environment, and more specifically Balteau, Golden Land Real Estate Investment JSC and DCA Cooperation Development JSC signed a Memorandum of Understanding concerning a "Public Private Partnership" for the creation of the largest waste water treatment installation in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. An investment that exceeds €450 million.

Based in Seraing in Belgium, the CMI group designs, integrates, modernises and maintains facilities for energy, defence, the steel industry, the environment and industry in general. The environment sector is managed by CMI Environment, which has a presence on the five continents and which offers its know-how and its sense of innovation for the development of environmental and global tailor-made solutions. This sector includes the Balteau company which joined the CMI group in 2014. Based in Sprimont, it designs and implements pumping, turbine and water treatment facilities for public sector and industrial clients.

With experience already in Vietnam, where, in 2006, it implemented a waste water treatment plant in Binh Hung Hoa, the CMI group is renewing the experience with a new challenge that is deserving of its know-how: to implement technically advanced technologies in the city of Ho Chi Minh in order to reduce the volumes needed for the very high flows to be treated (650,000 m³ per day) and comply with the strict disposal regulations in force in Vietnam.

Indeed, this Asian city, which is growing rapidly and is already home to more than 8 million people, is planning the installation of 11 sewage plants. But, because of a lack of space and the increasingly high cost of land, it has decided to combine several plants into one in the space currently occupied by the Binh Hung Hoa plant which Balteau knows well. Therefore, it will be a new challenge for the company which should, in addition to ensuring the modifications, has to keep the existing plant working.

This ambition along with the group's combined technical, commercial and financial expertise make it a reference in the field in Asia.
