The Horecatel show at WEX in Marche-en-Famenne was held from March 10 to 13 and welcomed more than 35,000 visitors. The entire hospitality sector was there to discover the latest innovations.
Every year, the Horecatel trade show brings together all the professionals in the Walloon catering and gastronomy sector. This year, the spotlight was on foreign chefs and world cuisine. It is with this in mind that the trade show chose Charleroi chef Tien-Chin Chi as its ambassador for 2019.
Tien-Chin Chi cooks Walloon dishes with Chinese influences in his restaurant "L'esprit Bouddha", located in Gosselies. For example, a glimpse at his menu reveals gyozas with chicory. At the trade fair, he introduced his specialities to colleagues and visitors during two cooking demonstration sessions. For his first demonstration (see photo above), the chef cooked marinated tuna with lacto-ramonas fermented and grilled nori. His second demonstration had a Belgian touch, with tofu and foie gras fried in Orval teriyaki sauce and shiitake in white vinegar.
The next Horecatel exhibition will take place from 8 to 11 March, 2020.
To discover the chef's passion, visit his restaurant "L'esprit Bouddha" on Place des Martyrs in Charleroi.
