PlayGround is an application that allows you to create real-time electronic music, through an evolving and playful interactive multi-touch interface. It was founded by 4 musicians and programmers from the collective Herrmutt Lobby (HLO) in Verviers (Wallonia). The app has already been downloaded 500 000 times and was elected “best app of 2016” on the AppStore!
In 2014, 4 musician-entrepreneurs from the HLO collective decided to create “PlayGround by HLO” and to join the startup accelerator The Faktory. “It took us 10 years of research and development to conceive a tool to play live electro music”, explain Pascal Demez and Emeric Florence, members of the quartet.
The app is a great hit, including in Japan. Its strength? It’s accessible to anyone and it virtually offers a new music broadcasting platform where the artist becomes the composer, the listener and the interpreter. The catalogue presents songs from international electronic music artists.
